情感支持计划

Our 情感支持计划 curriculum includes the Boys Town behavior model

衔接学校’s Emotional Support (ES) Program provides academic, 情感, 和 行为 support for students ages 5–14 who are unable to participate in regular 教育 programs because of moderate-to-severe 行为 和 social skill impairments. The curriculum includes the Boys Town behavior model.

课程

The 情感支持计划 encompasses the Pennsylvania Common Core English-Language Arts, 数学, 社会研究, 科学, Health 和 Physical Education, 艺术与人文, 和 Technical Education state st和ards. The program also provides instruction necessary for active learning, self-control, 和 socialization.

The 情感支持计划 offers the following components:

  • Functional Behavior Assessment
  • Individualized Positive Behavior Support Plan
  • Immersion in the Boys Town Education Model® in which students are taught prosocial skills that reinforce positive behaviors
  • Education 和 treatment interventions that target the student’s bio-psychosocial needs
  • Effective motivation systems including numerous special events, 教育, social activities 和 field trips.

干教育

All students at 衔接学校 have access to our Innovation Center supporting our 阀杆 programming. We also provide immersive technology that enables all students to utilize netbooks, 平板电脑, “smart” interactive whiteboards, 和 online programs that support our in-class curriculum.

在我们的ES项目中, we use the Boys Town Behavior Model 和 PBIS Program to promote positive behavior 和 achievements for our students to take advantage of additional 阀杆 activities that would not normally be a part of their everyday school experience. Access to 阀杆 projects 和 coding packs, participating as a news anchor on our Pathway Today morning show, 和 creating 3D prints or t-shirt designs are examples of rewards for our positive behavior programs.

Our approach allows us to maintain the highest level of consistent 教育 engagement 和 social/情感 support in classrooms that have a 1:4 ratio.

By identifying each young person’s personal strengths, 衔接学校 helps students gain the confidence necessary to challenge their less-productive behaviors 和 rely on those strengths when confronting academic 和 social tasks that require positive risk-taking.

衔接学校 offers integrated 临床, 行为, 和 related services such as 演讲职业治疗 as part of individualized academic programming, as needed.

At 衔接学校, we believe in building confidence 和 curiosity through creative exploration. 情感支持计划 students begin tapping into their own self-expression through our Theatre Arts Program, Musicopia程序, 和 Art 和 Design Program.

Opportunity for Transition

Students who are a part of the 情感支持计划 have an opportunity to transition into other 教育 programs at 衔接学校 within our Lower School or Upper School Programs (Link to these program pages). The IEP team will work with the school district 和 the parent(s) or guardian(s) to determine the least restrictive environment for students prior to graduation from the 情感支持计划. The team will make a recommendation for the student to transition into the available 教育 programs offered at 衔接学校, return to their home school district, or into an alternate placement determined by the school district or charter school.
